Property Description
The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, offering one of the best bed and breakfast experiences in Texas, is located in the Waco area near the ranch of President George W. Bush. This historic turn of the century Queen Anne Victorian home with a gingerbread trimmed front porch, is ideal for romantic getaways and group retreats. The Lighthouse also caters to business travelers with a quiet setting where the focus is on personal service and attention. Built in 1894, this beautifully restored home features the romance, tradition and charm of the 19th century. A delightful breakfast is served, usually in the formal dining room, with china, crystal and old linens on a candle lit century old dining table. Sometimes the occasion calls for breakfast on the porch or in the gazebo, which has a stained glass ceiling. Homemade banana nut bread or made from scratch cinnamon rolls are often served. On site amenities include meeting facilities, business services and a beautiful parlor. Relax on the wrap around porch in the swing or rocking chairs, and enjoy the breeze and listen to the birds. Antique furnishings accent every room. A wonderful feature of the formal dining room is the 1880's dining table, chairs and sideboards passed down through the years in the owner's family. Featured in the parlor is a tete a tete, which is believed to have been passed down seven generations from a relative who came over on the Mayflower. The many stained glass windows in the house add a special ambiance to this lovely home.
