The Samuel Durfee House is an elegant federal period bed and breakfast inn built in 1803 by banker Samuel Durfee of Providence. This beautifully restored house features period paneling and molding as well as a fan light window above the front door. Conveniently located downtown in Newport's Yachting Village, the Samuel Durfee House is just a block from the harbor and the restaurants and shops on Thames Street and 1 1/2 blocks from Bellevue Avenue with its mansions, shops, and the Tennis Hall of Fame. Enjoy a delicious, gourmet full breakfast each morning in the sitting room or back patio. Specialties of the house include Portuguese Sweet Bread French Toast, Swiss Cheese Pie, Eggs Frittatta, and Raspberry Pecan Pancakes. Newport Coffee Traders Gourmet Coffee, fresh fruit, home baked bread and a variety of juices also complement the scrumptious breakfast. Each afternoon you will find a delicious treat, coffee and tea in the sitting room.
