Originally the home of the Reverend Sidney Bumpas and his wife, Frances, the house was built in 1847. Over the years, the surrounding neighborhood developed into the now popular College Hill District. Today The Troy Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Guilford Country Historic Register.
